What is CASA?
The Common Astronomy Software Applications package, better known as CASA, will be the designated data reduction software package for all ALMA data. It is designed to be accessible to any astronomer and should be particularly easy for anyone familiar with the other common radio packages. It runs under a Python interface, so data can be passed between many compatible packages. CASA development is led by NRAO with international input including via the European Arc Node. Issues of local relevance are summarised here; please see the ESO and NRAO pages for full details. The RadioNet ALBiUS project is working on providing additional CASA functionality relevant to European interests and interoperability.
In addition to supporting CASA users as outlined on these pages, the UK ARC staff contribute to the testing and development of CASA. We welcome feedback from users and will attempt to resolve or pass on any suggestions.
